Penn’s Landing – Philadelphia’s Hub for Year-Round Recreation

Since William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania, docked here in 1682, Penn’s Landing has been a location of ongoing historical significance and waterfront fellowship for Philadelphia’s residents and visitors.

Located in Center City along the Delaware River, this tree-lined riverfront recreation park offers family-friendly attractions and events all year long.

Here’s a short list of what to see and do at Penn’s Landing…

Penn’s Landing on the Waterfront

In the summer months, music lovers flock to Penn’s landing from all over the city every Friday night (and some Saturdays) to enjoy the free Summer Concert Series at the Great Plaza. In July and August, Philadelphians are treated ro free Screenings Under the Stars every Thursday night, when folks bring their blankets and chairs out to view a different film each week on the giant outdoor film screen. And throughout the summer, visitors can attend any one of many various festivals and celebrations taking place here.

During the winter months, come and play on the Olympic-sized Blue Cross RiverRink in view of the Delaware River and Benjamin Franklin Bridge. And to ring in the new year, Penn’s Landing hosts and annual celebration with Philadelphia’s largest fireworks display.

And don’t worry; there’s plenty more to do here in between the festivals, celebrations and annual events at Penn’s Landing. Here are some of the ‘permanent fixtures’ available for year-round fun and entertainment:

Festival Pier

One of the great waterfront concert venues of Philadelphia, the Festival Pier can accommodate some 8,000 visitors with both a large outdoor stage and a tented concert venue on the Delaware River in view of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.

Our driver arrived a few minutes early, was professional, courteous and got us to the airport for our early morning flight without any problem! The car was immaculate and comfortable. I especially liked the 24 hour and 2 hour trip notification that was sent via email. It was reassuring to know they were following up. I highly recommend Corporate Sedan for any transportation needs!
