Handy info for traveling to and from Philadelphia Area Airports

If you plan to visit the Philadelphia area this summer, or you’re a Philly resident travelling out of town for vacation, you’ll likely be flying to or from one of our main Philadelphia airports: Philadelphia Airport (PHL), JFK Airport (JFK) or Newark Liberty Airport (EWR).

If your travel plans include one of these area airports, here is some useful information compiled into one article to help you get prepared, including airport contact info you can refer to when you’re ready to book your flight.

PHL, JFK or EWR Airport Travel

Some airport travel tips to help eliminate hassles during the check-in process:

  • Arrive early to allow for time to proceed through security checkpoints, particularly during heavy-travel seasons.
  • To save time at security checkpoints, get prepared in advance by reviewing the airport’s security measures before you travel.
  • Have your ID and boarding pass readily available, (and Visa/passport if applicable.)
  • Empty your pockets of keys, coins and other loose metal objects and place them in your carry-on, so everything may be scanned at once.
  • Remove any outer garments you may be wearing, (jackets, hats, etc) and shoes.
  • Pack your luggage in layers (to increase visibility of scanned baggage.)
  • Place as many items as possible in checked baggage; carry-ons should contain only those items that will need to be immediately on hand.
  • If traveling with medications, be sure to keep them in their original packaging, and bring accompanying prescription cards.

A partial list of some prohibited items not permitted on flights:

  • Liquids, aerosols and gels are permitted in carry-ons in limited quantities, (one bag allowed in order to limit total volume.) Place any non-essential liquids in checked luggage for faster check-in. Place these items into one bag and X-ray them separately from the carry-on bag for faster security checking.
  • Loose (spare) Lithium batters are not allowed in checked baggage, only those batteries properly inserted into portable devices will be permitted. Some exceptions include those spare batteries used in cell phones or laptops, provided that battery terminals are covered.
  • Miscellaneous items regulated by security include sharp objects, sporting goods, firearms, tools, martial arts items, explosive & flammable materials, candles, aerosols and snow globes, among others.
  • For a more detailed list of allowed & prohibited items, plus a convenient “what can I bring when I fly?” iPhone and mobile app, visit the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) traveler information page.

Our driver arrived a few minutes early, was professional, courteous and got us to the airport for our early morning flight without any problem! The car was immaculate and comfortable. I especially liked the 24 hour and 2 hour trip notification that was sent via email. It was reassuring to know they were following up. I highly recommend Corporate Sedan for any transportation needs!
