So many times our awesome passengers love to share either their own crazy travel stories or other stories they heard from others. Because they are so entertaining, we like to share them with you. Here is the next crazy travel story called…
This story comes from a group of Canadians that were traveling through Europe (not the first time) and ended up in Prague where they were interested in investigating the local drug scene. Yeah, I know, who wants to openly admit that? In any case, they talked about their first trip to Prague where they made an attempt to purchase hashish from a street dealer that they found only 3 hours after landing at the airport.
Oops, they chose the wrong criminal drug dealer and ended up being held up at knife point. As if that was enough to discourage them (it wasn’t). They got themselves together and went to Amsterdam to give it another go. I don’t know if these guys had a sign on their heads that read We Are Foriengers, Please Rob Us but again they were robbed. This time from a guy holding a syringe that he claimed was tainted with the AIDS virus. Both this time and the previous robbery, they all lost their money. I am not sure I blame them for giving in so quickly and handing over the cash but, they did.
Next? Munich Germany but just to partake in the local beer and area women. When they departed the train upon arrival, they were approached by a rather large German Police Office informing them that they were requested to appear in a local constables office. Once in the local authorities office they were asked to empty their bags and they were frisked. Wanting to show they were reasonable and able to follow these orders, they did everything they were asked to do. For some reason, it wasn’t enough and they were next strip searched. What a predicament. However, they really had nothing to worry about because they were drug free and had broken no laws.
Once strip searched, these poor travelers were told they could dress and take their knapsacks and leave the police station. A bit in shock they made their way to their hotel (which they have yet to check into) where they discovered that their accommodations were given to someone else because of the delay checking in that the local police caused. As all of the reasonably priced hotels were booked with no available rooms, they ended up in a place that required a travel budget that was way over their heads but they had no choice. At this point, all they wanted was a cheap and quiet dinner so they made their way downstairs to the hotel bar and found the only table without menus in English.
You guessed it, after a lovely time of eating and drinking they were presented with a bill that was 5 times what they expected and really depleted all remaining travel budget entertainment funds. By the time they got into their room they had lost their room key (paid for it), realized one of them left items including an expensive camera in a locker back in Amsterdam.
Now it was time to go back to Prague. Again their trip was full of mishaps and they ended up paying over $60 American dollars for a 2 hour cab ride to a hotel in the suburbs where they were informed it was really a 25 minute bus ride for $5.
Though we all probably feel bad for these traveling Canadians, there is a lesson to be learned here. Travel preparation, travel research, travel planning and learning from your travel mistakes would have saved these poor guys at least some of their hard earned money and time.

Check out what our clients have to say about their experience with us.
My company had an international artist picked up at JFK and dropped off in Philadelphia, and the artist had the best time. The driver kept in touch with me throughout the day, so we could plan for arrival, and our artist had the most wonderful experience with the driver. That’s really astounding considering our artist had just gotten off a red-eye from across the world. Thank you so very much!

Great customer service- tracking my flight, noting it was going to land 40 minutes early…and making the adjustment so someone was there to meet me at the airport early! Also, receiving a confirmation email 24 hours prior was reassuring as well. Thank you!!
