Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade

Date: Thursday, November 28, 2013 from 8:30 a.m to Noon
Location: Benjamin Franklin Parkway, (starting at 20th & Market Streets), Philadelphia

The 1.4-mile Thanksgiving Day Parade is the oldest in the country and a true Philadelphia tradition. The city streets make way for massive floats and giant balloons, plus local performers from choirs, dance groups, marching bands and more. Santa himself arrives in grand fashion, ushering Philadelphia into the holiday season.

Macy’s Philadelphia Christmas Light Show

Date: Friday, November 29, 2013 through Tuesday, December 31, 2013
Location: 1300 Market Street, Philadelphia

A holiday tradition since 1955, returns to Macy’s Center City for the 2013 season with brilliant lights, festive music and tons of cheer for holiday shoppers. Watch snowflakes, ballerinas and reindeer float beyond the four-story-high velvet curtain of the Grand Court atrium. The light show features more than 100,000 bright LED lights combined to create fantastic holiday images, and accompanied by festive music from the world-renowned Wanamaker Grand Organ.

Reading Terminal Holiday Railroad

Date: Friday, November 29, 2013 through Tuesday, December 31, 2013
Location: Reading Terminal Market, 51 North 12th Street, Philadelphia

Kids and adults alike will delight in this interactive 500 sq.ft. model railroad display with almost a third of a mile of track! Seventeen working train lines rumble through a multitude of miniature scenery including Center City Philly, a Christmas Village, and snow-covered countryside.

Electrical Spectacle: A Holiday Light Show

Date: Thursday, November 14 through Tuesday, December 31, 2013
Location: Franklin Square, 6th and Race streets, Philadelphia

A new holiday tradition and the key to holiday fun in Franklin Square with More than 50,000 lights twinkling to a holiday soundtrack by The Philly POPS® conducted by Music Director Emeritus Peter Nero. The Electrical Spectacle will illuminate the historical fountain, buildings and trees around the Square. Enjoy holiday music on the Parx Liberty Carousel and new “hot spots” to stay warm at Philly Mini Golf. Enjoy seasonal snacks and warm beverages along with holiday shopping and special gift packages.

Peddler’s Village Gingerbread House Competition and Display

Date: Friday, November 22, 2013 through Saturday, January 4, 2014
Location: Routes 202 & 263, Lahaska

Gingerbread house competition for over $3,400 in cash prizes in such categories as : Traditional, Authentic Reproduction of a Significant Building, Amateur, Unusual 3-Dimensional Creation Student (ages 13 to 18) and Kids Only! (ages 12 and under).

A visual delight, the entries are displayed throughout the holiday season in the Village Gazebo.
