The Dog Days of Summer in Philadelphia are No Dog!

Whether traveling on business or pleasure to Philadelphia in September, there are two major events of the summer that you won’t want to miss.  So drop that laptop and head for performances to soothe even the most stressed among us!

  1. The Live Arts Festival in Philadelphia and Philly Fringe is held annually in September and attracts people from around the World.  The Prince Theater on Chestnut St. is home to this yearly event that has gained hugescratch night new happenings resized 600traction.

In 1997, five Philadelphia artists created an outlet for contemporary and experimental performers to show their talents. Originally a five-day event, now it runs for two solid weeks of truly professional and innovative artistic performances.

With its presentations of new and experimental theater, visual arts, music and spoken-word presentations, the Festival has continued its growth in scope and popularity over 15 years.  Think of having performances everywhere you go, and not just any performances, and not just in a theater.  Imagine being entertained everywhere you walk, drive or sit are unusual and innovative performances of all kinds: on street corners, in cars, in galleries, cabarets and restaurants.

This artistic event brings the performers closer to their audience (literally) with shows that are family-friendly, avant-garde and unusual.  Don’t let budget stop you, there are some free experiences to be had, as well as those requiring ticket purchase.

  1. Popped Music Festival: As if the two-week long Arts Festival weren’t enough to make September in Philadelphia exciting enough, this annual music festival began entertaining music enthusiasts in 2007 and has “made” the Philadelphia music scene - put it on the proverbial map!  Top national and local acts perform during the two melodic days of the event, which includes comedy acts and plenty of available foods to keep both your ears and your stomach fed!

*The Skins,

*Cage the Elephant,

*Company of Thieves,

*Pretty Lights,

*Girl Talk,

*Foster the People and many more.

Getting around Philadelphia has many options, And if you are flying in for the event you may well want to arrive a day ahead of the schedule of events to get your bearings and learn what transportation and locations you will need/want.  Philadelphia shines with so many exciting events throughout the year.  These two events are truly some of the best of what this great City has to offer.
