Are you interested in French art and paintings? At the Barnes Foundation you get just that. Some of the finest paintings from the nineteenth and twentieth-centuries are housed at their facility. You find masterpieces by Cézanne, Renoir, Matisse, Seurat, Modigliani and more.

The Barnes Foundation was established as an educational institution. They carry this out by teaching classes in their Arboretum. Visitors and students are welcome to come visit throughout the year.

The Barnes Foundation’s collection features French Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and early Modern paintings. Enhancing the collection you will find Greek, Roman and Egyptian antiquities, Chinese painting, African sculpture, retablos from New Mexico, Native American pottery, and American decorative arts. With 24 galleries one is sure to find that one piece of art that takes their breath away.

Currently 5 of the 24 galleries are closed for conservation work in preparation for relocation to Philadelphia, PA. The relocation of the gallery from Lower Merion to Philadelphia, on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, is scheduled for 2012. The city welcomes this culture gem.
